My son, Sonny sent a picture to my cell phone last evening and it was a picture of Leah, our 2 yr. old Grand Daughter wearing a tee shirt that said...

Naturally, I just about ran to the phone to call Sonny & Megan.
Yes it is true, they are expecting their third child, due in May.
So over here we all are ...YIPEEE FOR ANOTHER GRANDCHILD.

OK So When............

the preschool asked me to take another morning, all was good. I then went Mon., Weds., & Friday mornings and back for lunch time Mon. & Fridays. But then they asked me to take on 2 more mornings which meant every week Monday through Friday I was to be there before 7 am.
No way...No how...This just didn't work out for me any longer.
So now I just go to Murphy's every week day . No more rushing around, some mornings like a crazy lady-(r-e-a-l-l-y). No more waking the kids up at least an hour earlier than usual and figuring out where they would go for that hour or so before school began. No more gently rushing Mrs. Murphy so I would be able to get back to the preschool on time. Being back to our regular morning schedule is wonderful, to say the least. Being able to take my time with Mrs. Murphy is really a pleasure. I do miss the lil' ones at the preschool. I can still hear them, Oh Good Morning Miss. Pati... Hiiiiiiii Miss. Pati... Miss. Pati I love you.... Oh Miss. Pati your my new best friend. Miss. Pati, I told my Mommy about you, and she loves you too. No, I want Miss. Pati to help me PLEASE. Yeah, I miss those lil' ones, but they are having a ball and really they love just about everyone who works there. They are all in very good hands. Honestly, I know I am most likely forgotten already. But still, I can hear them in my mind and I think I just might for a very long time to come. This is a very nice position I have with the Murphy's and works out well for them, for me & my family. There was stress alot of the time for me with the preschool hours...it is perfectly wonderful to not have that stress any longer.
I am very blessed and very happy too.


I also must say I am so happy my friend Rosalie, who threw my name into the hat for the position at the preschool, understands "you gotta do..what you gotta do."

Today my youngest son Tommy turned 13 years old. He is so excited to be a teenager. Really, he could not wait to be 13. When I look at him I can still see the lil' bundle of joy I gave birth to 13 years ago today.

Today is the day

My second born son D.J. turned 16 today and just about ran to the D.M.V
to take the test to receive his learners permit.
We went as a family as this is a BIG day for our D.J.
He passed that test and drove home from the DMV,
smiling all the way.
WAY TO GO D.J.

16 yrs old ...the time just flies away.
when i look at this teenager I can still see the lil' bundle of joy I gave birth to 16 years ago today.

Over & Over

I prayed for a job that wouldn't take me out of the home at night, that wouldn't brake my aching back. Something that would just fit right into our schedule.

Well in the last 2 wks not ONE but TWO such jobs landed right in my lap.

Thanks to My Dear Friend Roe, who knew there was a opening and threw my name into the hat.... On Monday and Fridays, I go to Miss Mella's pre school, from 7-9 am. And then I go back at 11:30 - 12:30 to help out with lunch.
I L - O - V - E it.

A few days later my husband received a call from a friend that needed someone to help out with his Mother. I go over to Murphy's, Monday Through Friday from 9-9:30 to 11-11:30.
I L - O - V - E it.

And on Monday & Friday's when I leave the pre school at 9:00, I have plenty of time to get to Murphy's and back to Miss Mella's for lunch.

Yes, it is a bit tough getting use to being out of the house,
dressed with hair & makeup done, kids situated and punching in a time clock before 7 AM.
Though, I am done with work and back home before 1 pm.
With a pay ck that is well worth it.
These 2 jobs are blessings and they are the perfect answer to my prayers.
Tied with a bow & Absolutely Heaven sent.

I am very grateful, very thankful and very very blessed.

I just HAVE to say....

THANK YOU to everyone who prayed for Janice and her family.
Janice is now home from the hospital and feeling much more like herself.
Graciously, I ask you to keep Janice & family in your prayers.
Also, there is no news of any new test results as of yet.

Please Pray

I am asking for prayers for my life long friend Janice.(we are both in our 50's and have been friends since our preteen yrs)
In the last year she has battled lung cancer, having a lobe removed, finishing chemo being told she is cancer free. A few months later to find she has brain cancer.
With all she has, Janice is fighting this new diagnosis.
She has had fever of 102 and higher on & off, sleeping way too much, went to the doctor yesterday and he sent her straight to the hospital. There to be diagnosed with pneumonia.
As of right now, Doctors are saying she will need to be in the hospital on IV antibiotics and fever free for 24 hrs. before they will think of letting her go home.
There's talk of running tests will she is in hospital to ck on the cancer and see whats going on at this point.
I am praying for Janice to have the spirit and strength needed to fight, battle this cancer.
I am praying that her children Jimmy 30 yrs old, Felicia 19 yrs old and Mark 11 yrs old,and Janice's significant other of just about 25 yrs. are able to "handle" this day to day journey.

I humbly ask you to please pray for Janice and her children and family.
Please keep them in your prayers.

My Thoughts Have Been....

all over the place lately.
Going ahead and renewing some work contacts in the health care world. Two or Three I have been "working through" with them for almost 20 yrs. Waiting for my packet with all the testing information from Albany. Thinking of my Grandchildren, hoping soon we will have time together. Realizing DJ will be 16 this Sept. which also means two more years and he will be off to college. It will be the beginning of things never being "the same" for the second time in my life. Don't get me wrong, I planted that college, education seed very early. I am nurturing it as I have all these yrs. I want my son to go off to college and move on to the beginning of a wonderful rest of his life.

Wowee seems like just the other day I was taking him to the first day of kindergarten. He most certainly is a grown, handsome, good man, but there are still times when I look at him and I can see the lil' bundle of joy I gave birth to 34 years ago.**

Yes I'm Jumpin' Back Into

the world of geriatric health care which has been a passion of mine for many years.

I called Albany this morning and they are sending out the application & forms I need to fill out & return to them along with the fee. Albany will then send me a list of dates & sites re certification exams will be given. If I am predicting correctly, I should be back into the world of health care within a month or so, depending on exam dates. I humbly ask to be remembered in your prayers, that the knowledge needed for the exam wont "escape me" during test taking time. Also that I will be able to find a position that wont break my back.....sounds funny maybe, but honestly I am serious.

The more I think about all of this, the more excited I become. I simply love working with the elderly. I adore them. I am Blessed with a way of "fitting in"to their world, understanding their worries and having something about me "they are able to relate & trust. This has held true no matter my age and I have been in this field for 30 yrs.

I Have To Ask...

for prayers for my girlfriend of 44 yrs.
after fighting lung cancer and finally being deemed cancer free, just a few short months later, brings us to tonight when she has been diagnosed with brain cancer.
My life long friend Janice has 3 children, her first born a son 30 yrs old, her second born a daughter 19 yrs old and her third born a son now 11 yrs old. Her husband of 24 yrs is already lost in thoughts of what might be. Janice and her 2 sisters and 2 brothers lost their parents to cancer.
I ask ever so graciously please pray for Janice and her family. Then please pray again.

Where Have I Been.....

I dunno, here at home.
Looking after the boys and their friends.
Spent some needed time with my life long friend of 40 plus yrs, she is recovering from lung cancer surgery. Things are looking very good for her.
Lots going on here with the new addition of a sprinkler system, new planting of roses and such, sod soon to be down. Ugh, the dirt that gets tracked through the house is never ending.
Have a oven full of blue glass from a oven proof baking dish that EXPLODED and scared me big time. Wondering how will I ever get it all out, all those slivers oh geeze.
Hot tub is open and Tommy couldn't be happier, according to Tommy it relaxes him and he needs it after all his adventures during the day. (too cute)
DJ had friends over last night and tonight is Tommy's night for friends hanging out downstairs.
I am pretty sure he is having a sleep over, so that means we will be going to THE RED BOX and renting dvd's for $1.00 each night, gotta love that big red box in Stop & Shop. Oh yes and snacks too, since we will be in Stop & Shop, you know someones going to ask. =) =)
I am SO missing my family south of here, hoping to make plan's to spend family time soon.
My family living further south I am making plans to spend time with this summer.

Well,....

it is a beautiful Saturday morning, breezy but sunny.
let's see DJ is looking to go to out to purchase a new shirt to wear tonight to a sweet sixteen. Tommy is already out & on an adventure, cause that's just Tommy. My hubby is out for a while with a fellow who for many yrs. comes over from Ireland to march in the St. Patricks day parade, and visit close family friends. Me, well I have already started laundry, main floor cleaned, now I have to get in attack mode for the upstairs, ummm... it ain't happening yet. I am thinking the pot roast I made for dinner last night will be a good lunch with the left over potatoes & carrots.
Yup, they will enjoy it. ( me too, maybe. )

that's it....that's all I have right now.

I have to say....

Tommy did it again & won his match today, pinned his opponent in the 3rd period. Yeah ,we have a happy wrestler, he is 4 & 3, with one more match to go. I am busy trying to find wrestling clinics this summer to keep him busy and in wrestling shape. Not having much luck as of yet though. Anyways....Lucie and I went to see her hubby Charles to day, we picked him up from the nursing home and took him out to lunch, well Lucie took us to lunch. They had a wonderful time, nice conversation, good food, and the promise of doing it again very soon.
D.J. has been helping out ALOT around the house inside & out getting ready for the spring weather. He is still talking about S.C.P.D., one thing about D.J. he always has a plan....

It Has Been A While,

since i mentioned Robert. I posted about him a while back. Great kid off @ college... one night while walking he was stuck by a hit & run driver. well, good news to be told, Robert is walking and continues intense physical therapy, things can only get better from here. While lot's of prayers have been answered, all prayers are welcome & appreciated.
God Bless & Lot's of prayers for this strong, loving family.

A Bit About My Boy's.....& A LIL' Bit More.

D.J. who is now 15 yrs. old, has been saying he will be in real estate since he was about 11 yrs. old. This wk in school it is career wk and after listening to a few of the speakers, D.J. now wants to be a member of the Suffolk County Police Dept. When I asked him what happened to real estate, he looked at me as if I was being silly and replied, Mom with the economy why would I choose real estate. I want a solid job. S.C.P.D. make a good salary, and the best benefits you could look for, I can always invest and have real estate on the side. Has another officer in our family left an impression on D.J. ? Well, it sounds like this young man has a plan. I love it. Next thing I knew D.J. was asking if he could have another party.
Wait.....What did he just ask me...another party ???
Now that's a subject for another story... another time.... maybe......


I read Tommy's "Things I Would Like To Do" composition book for English. His new story, which by the way was 4 pages long, once again states he wants to be a Policeman or State Trooper. It will be 4 yrs since that ceremony this August, so Tommy was just around 8 yrs. old when Sonny graduated. It never ceases to amaze me....how many details he remembers from his brothers academy graduation. Could it be Tommy has a gift for detail ? He went on describing the different scenarios the academy put on for us that day. Stories of the helicopter, the officer pulling over a car and someone hiding in the back seat, mace, rubber bullets, police dogs, and more, much more. I wasn't even sure he was paying all that much attention, the graduation ceremony was outside, it was a very hot day, there was a crowd, it was a little long for the kids, people were cheering (which, by the way he also wrote about).
I feel it all comes from a mix of his proud feeling for his brother, he was & is still very impressed by all his brother learned in the academy, his love for his brother, and if something sparks Tommy's interest, his gift for detail shows strongly.

Tommy had another wrestling match yesterday and he WON, by pinning his opponent in the second period. Needless to say he is one very happy wrestler. ( 3 & 3 ) oh, whats that i hear...a very proud Uncle who happens to also LOVE wrestling, who has quite the following & has been doin' it for Y-E-A-R-S.

this morning someone lifted my spirt,

which in turn made me feel light hearted.

with that being said,

here are a few facts some may find silly,

while others might find interesting....

in our small town there are a few famous

people & their families residing

by famous i mean, movies, t.v., music ........

let's see we have a movie star long remembered for his waxing,

there is a rapper who is connected to small change,

there is a t.v. show star who everybody loves.

oh & one t.v. series actor who let's just say has been connected.

just a few miles away from our small town , in the next small town,

there is a young girls heart throb whose career was launched

on a music reality show.

i/we have spotted them with family, @ school functions,

@ kid's sporting events, @ the supermarket, @at the gas station,

@one very good pizza parlor around our way,

all kids who lives around this way never find it old news.

there are rumors & stories of other's, yet i have not seen

the person/person's.

Early morning hours I received a call,

One which I will never forget,

We hurried & headed out for a unexpected trip,

Picking up our oldest so we could all travel together,

Cramped and crowed we rode straight through,

Made our destination with a whirlwind of days,

Filled with raw emotions, forced with facing facts,

Words were said that needed to be spoken,

Bonds were formed I'd been praying for,

Just as quickly as we headed out,

We were back on the rode,

cramped and crowed as we drove straight through,

I was never prouder of my husband and our three son's,

Each doing what they could think of to make it easier,

This time when we were thrown together to travel as one.

8-10 INCHES. THAT'S WHAT WE ARE EXPECTING ON L.I. BETWEEN TONIGHT & TOMORROW MORNING. THE BIG QUESTION AROUND HERE IS, WILL SCHOOL BE CLOSED TOMORROW MOM... WELL, THAT'S ONE QUESTION MOM DOES NOT HAVE A SOLID ANSWER FOR, THAT'S A WAIT & SEE KINDA QUESTION. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, I DO STAND WITH THE BOYS, I AM HOPING WE SEE ON VERY EARLY MORNING NEWS, M.P. SCHOOLS CLOSED FOR THE DAY. IT SNOWED A BIT LAST NIGHT BUT NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT, AND SO FAR TODAY THERE HAS BEEN SOME LIGHT FLURRIES. ALL THOUGH, THE HUBBY AROUND HERE HAS ALREADY BEEN CALLED INTO WORK, SO WE JUST MIGHT GET OUR WISH. BUT LIKE I SAID, THAT'S A WAIT & SEE.

OH NO NOT MY........

DJ, HE IS SICK AND HE NEVER GETS SICK,
HE HAS BEEN IN BED SINCE WEDS AFTERNOON.
I FEEL SO BAD FOR HIM. I GUESS HIS FRIENDS
ARE MISSING HIM BECAUSE HIS CELL NEVER
STOPS RINGING. ALL THOUGH THAT'S ONE OF
THE THINGS THAT BOTHERS ME ABOUT KIDS
& CELLS, THEIR FRIENDS NEVER SEEM TO CALL
THE HOUSE PHONE, HEAVEN FORBID THEY MUST
SPEAK TO A PARENT. I HAVE OTHER ISSUES ABOUT
KIDS AND CELLS, BUT I WON'T SPEAK OF THEM NOW.
I AM JUST HOPING DJ FEELS BETTER & BACK
TO HIMSELF SOON, VERY SOON.

2ND TIME AROUND

DURING THE WEEK TOMMY HAD HIS 2ND WRESTLING MATCH AND LETS JUST SAY
HIS GAINING WRESTLING ABILITY.
LIKE I TELL TOMMY, HIS TIME WILL COME.

I CAN NOT TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES HE STOLE....

THAT BASKET BALL TODAY . TOMMY STOLE THAT BALL SO MANY
TIMES IN TODAY'S GAME WE ACTUALLY LOST COUNT.
TOMMY PLAYED SO HARD, HIS WHOLE TEAM DID.
IT NEVER STOPS TO SURPRISE ME HOW NERVE RACKING A BOYS
BASKET BALL GAME CAN GET, AND TODAY WAS NO EXCEPTION.
I DON'T REMEMBER EVER HEARING THAT GYM SO LOUD
IN ALL THE 8 YRS I HAVE BEEN GOING THERE. THIS GAME
WAS SO ACTION PACKED. LOADED WITH LOTS OF BALL
STEALING, INTERCEPTING PASSES,
FOILING ANOTHERS BASKET ATTEMPT, TRIPPING,
ANKLE KICKING, HOLDING ON TO THAT BALL FOR
DEAR LIFE WHEN AN OPPONENT IS TRYING TO
RIP IT OUT OF YOUR HANDS...
OH MAN, IT WAS ON.
THOUGH IT WAS VERY CLOSE GAME, TOMMY'S TEAM
WON AND NOW ARE 8 and 0, WITH 2 MORE GAMES TO
THE END OF THE SEASON. LIKE I HAVE SAID BEFORE,
THANK GOODNESS FOR THE ABILITY
TO GET AGGRESSIVE FOR THE GAME.

HIS TIME HAS COME

AND HE IS SO EXCITED.
THOMAS HAS HIS FIRST OFFICIAL WRESTLING MATCH
ON FEB 24, THOMAS IS FEELING BECAUSE IT IS ON MY BIRTHDAY,
THE DAY WILL BE A "LUCKY" DAY FOR HIM FOR SURE.
ALONG WITH GENTLE TALKS ABOUT IF HE DOESN'T WIN THE MATCH, HOW HE SHOULD JUST SHAKE HANDS WITH HIS OPPONENT & SAY SOMETHING LIKE, GOOD MATCH. HE CAN WALK WAY FEELING PROUD OF HIMSELF KNOWING... WOW, I JUST HAD MY FIRST SCHOOL TEAM WRESTLING MATCH, & NEXT TIME MIGHT BE MY TIME. THOMAS, IF YOU THINK ABOUT THE MATCH YOU WILL LEARN SOMETHING FOR YOUR NEXT MATCH. ALWAYS REMEMBER THERE IS NO ROOM FOR SORE LOSERS OF ANY KIND IN SPORTS. OVER & OVER AGAIN, UNTIL HE GIVES ME THE LOOK,WHICH I KNOW MEANS HE TOTALLY GETS IT. OK NOW, I WILL SPEND FROM TODAY ON WITH MY FINGERS CROSSED, PRAYING THAT THE 24TH IS AN EXCELLENT DAY FOR MY SON.

AH, MY SON DJ IS ABSOLUTELY THE MOST AMAZING 15 YR OLD I KNOW. HE JUST SURPRISES ME ALL THE TIME WITH THE MANY THINGS HE HAS KNOWLEDGE OF & or HE KNOWS HOW TO DO. REAL ESTATE, HE CAN PRICE A CONDO OUT EAST OR A HOME IN TEXAS. CAR'S...IT DRIVES PAST US, HE KNOWS THE MAKE, MODEL YR. AND PRICE RANGE. FROM HOME MADE ALFREDO SAUCE TO CKING THE OIL, WINDOW WASHER FLUID, GAS, ANTI-FREEZE, TIRE PRESSURE. FROM SNOW BLOWING THE DRIVE WAY TO PUMPING GAS, WHATS THAT YOU ASK...LANDSCAPING YES, THIS YOUNG MAN HAS SOME WONDERFUL IDEAS & DJ CAN GET THE JOB CAN DONE. YOU NAME IT & THIS KID PRETTY MUCH HAS IT COVERED. BEAUTIFUL BRIGHT BLUE EYES, ALWAYS A BIG SMILE, DRESSED CLEAN & NEAT ALL THE TIME, A BIG HEART, MANY FRIENDS, AND FUNNY, AH HE CAN GET YOU TO LAUGH. A KINDNESS ABOUT HIM THAT IS VERY COMFORTING. CKING OUT COLLEGES, ALREADY EXCITED ABOUT HIS DAYS AHEAD.
I AM THINKING...COLLEGE ALREADY, OH NO, I REMEMBER WHEN SONNY WENT OFF TO COLLEGE I WASN'T PREPARED FOR IT AT ALL. NOT THAT IT MEANS DJ GOING OFF WILL MEAN ANY LESS, I JUST KNOW A LITTLE BIT AHEAD OF TIME THAT I WILL BE CRYING FOR SEVERAL WKS AND AFTER EVERY HOME VISIT TILL ABOUT THE 4TH YR. I DID KNOW THINGS WOULD NEVER BE THE SAME BUT I DIDN'T KNOW TO WHAT EXTENT THAT ACTUALLY MEANT. ON A DAILY BASIS I COULD NOT IMAGINE A LIFE WITHOUT SONNY & I CAN NOT IMAGINE A LIFE WITH OUT DJ.

THOMAS IS NOW ON THE SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM. AND HE LOVES IT.
A FEW BASKET BALL GAMES WERE PRETTY TOUGH ON HIS LEGS BECAUSE OF THE START OF WRESTLING TRAINING.
THE FIRST WEEK OR SO, THOMAS CAME HOME FROM WRESTLING PRACTICE (WHICH IS EVERY DAY AFTER SCHOOL) TELLING ME ALL ABOUT THE DIFFERENT HOLDS, ROLLS, PINS AND MORE, MUCH MORE...
BUT THE KICKER WAS WHEN HE SAID TO ME,
"MOM REMEMBER WHEN WE WENT TO SONNY'S STATE TROOPER GRADUATION AND THEY SHOWED US ALL THE STUFF THEY HAD TO LEARN TO GRADUATE THE ACADEMY".
OF COURSE I DO, I REMEMBER IT LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY.
I STILL CARRY THAT PROUD STRONG FEELING I HELD THAT DAY.
YOUR BIG BROTHER WAS ONCE MOMMY'S BABY AND LOOK AT HIM NOW, HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED MANY THINGS IN HIS LIFE, BUT MOST OF ALL HE IS A GOOD PERSON."

"MOM, SONNY'S ACADEMY CLASS STARTED WITH 140 SOMETHING GUYS AND ONLY 40 SOMETHING GRADUATED...( I KNEW SONNY'S ACADEMY GRADUATION LEFT A HUGE IMPRESSION ON THOMAS, BUT I HAD NO IDEA HE REMEMBERED THE CLASS SIZE ) CAUSE THEY WERE HARD & TOUGH ON THEM TRYING TO GET RID OF THE GUYS WHO COULDN'T MAKE IT, THAT'S WHAT MY WRESTLING COACH IS LIKE, HE IS TRYING TO GET RID OF THE KIDS WHO AREN'T GOING TO MAKE IT THROUGH... BUT NOT ME, THEY WON'T GET RID OF ME . I AM STRONG AND TOUGH LIKE MY BIG BROTHER AND I AM GONNA MAKE IT."

IS THAT...BECAUSE SHE'S A GIRL THING GOING TO HAPPEN HERE, CAUSE IT WOULDN'T BE FAIR.... OH MAN .

WHILE TAKING DOWN THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

MY DEAR HUSBAND WENT TO MOVE THE LADDER AND THE TOP SLIDE DOWN AND SMASHED HIS FINGER AND I DO MEAN SMASHED. OH I CAN'T LOOK. THERE IS BLOOD EVERYWHERE. I HAVE TO LOOK, BECAUSE I HAVE TO FIX EM' UP...AH GEE IT IS BAD, VERY BAD. OH MY GOSH, MOST OF HIS NAIL IS GONE AND WHAT IS LEFT IS PUSHED UP UNDER THE TOP OF HIS FINGER, WHAT'S LEFT OF THAT. WRAPPED IT UP IN A WET WHITE TOWEL, WERE WE ARE OUTTA HERE. ST.CHARLES HERE WE COME. 4 HRS & 37 STITCHES LATER WE LEAVE THE E.R. WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT HIS FINGER IS FRACTURED, HIS NAIL MOST LIKELY WILL NOT GROW BACK AND BY THE SLIM CHANCE IT DOES, IT WILL BE SEVERELY DEFORMED.
WHILE WE WERE GONE A GOOD FAMILY FRIEND TOOK THE LIGHTS DOWN, CHRISTMAS WREATHS OFF EVERY WINDOW, RED BOWS, ALL OF IT. EVERYTHING IN NEAT PILES WAITING FOR US TO PACK UP & STORE IN THE ATTIC.
THANK GOODNESS FOR LIVING 5 MINUTES FROM TWO HOSPITALS.

THANK GOODNESS MY HUSBAND DIDN'T TURN INTO THE 6 YR OLD I KNOW HE CAN WHEN HE IS FORCED TO BE IN A HOSPITAL'S CARE.
